IBTC's Terms and Conditions are aligned to the Electronic Communication and Transaction Act 2002 ("the ECTA") and the Consumer Protection Act of 2008 ("the CPA")
Terms & Conditions
The terms and conditions ("Terms and Conditions") will cover your use of the IBTC website located at the domain name www.ibtc.co.za ("the website"). By accessing and using the website and by making payment to IBTC in accordance with the payment instructions provided on your invoice you agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions.
IBTC reserves the right to change, modify, add to or remove from portions or the whole of these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Changes to these Terms and Conditions will become effective upon such changes being posted to this website. It is your responsibility to periodically check these Terms and Conditions and should you continue to use the website following the posting of changes or updates your use will be considered notice of your acceptance to abide by and be bound to these Terms and Conditions including the changes/updates.
Limited License to General Users
- IBTC grants you, subject to the further terms of these Terms and Conditions, a non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited, revocable right to access, display, use, download and otherwise copy the current and future content of this website for personal, non-commercial and information purposes only. Any unauthorised use terminates this license. This website and its content may not be reproduced, duplicated, copied, resold, visited or otherwise exploited for any commercial purpose without the express prior written consent of IBTC.
Privacy Policy
- It is the policy of IBTC not to share, distribute or sell our clients' particulars to any 3rd Party. IBTC will however use the clients' details to inform and update the client with any relevant information.

Liability
- The client is personally responsible for all their belongings and equipment while at any of IBTC's premises. IBTC shall not be held responsible for any loss of or damage caused to any property belonging to the client.
- IBTC waives any and all responsibility for the safety and health of the client whilst the client is makiing use of IBTC's office premises or rented lecture venues.
Registration for courses, exams and placing of an order for study material
- If you wish to register for any of the courses facilitated by IBTC and/or to order any study material or distance learning product you must complete the relevant online registration form and make payment of the prescribed fee in accordance with our payment policy set out hereafter. Upon registration and/or placing your order you will be considered a Client of IBTC and will at all times be subject to the Terms and Conditions set out herein.
- The only exams that IBTC facilitate are the CIMA Certificate Level exams in Cape Town.
- Should the Client register and pay for a CBA to be held at the Cape Town Branch, IBTC will register the Client with CIMA for this particular exam.
- Should the Client register and pay IBTC for a CBA to be held in Johannesburg, the Client will then be responsible for the registration of the exam with CIMA. IBTC will pay CIMA the CBA registration fee on behalf of the Client.
- Should the Client pay IBTC for any other exam fees (other than those specified above), the Client is solely responsible for registering themselves with the relevant exam centre and institute.
- IBTC is not allowed to register a student for any exams other than CIMA Certificate Level. IBTC is not a certified exam centre for any exams other than Certificate Level CBAs.
Return, Exchange and Refund Policy - Cooling Off Period
- As per Section 44 of the ECTA, the consumer's right to a cooling off period does not apply to the electronic transactions for the sale of books or CDs.
- IBTC will replace any faulty books or CDs in exchange for the original at the client's own cost.
Cancellation Policy - Evening, Saturday, Full Time and Revision Classes
- Orders cancelled within 7 working days after date of conclusion of the agreement without having received any material will be entitled to a full refund within 30 days from date of cancellation, minus a cancellation fee.
- Orders cancelled after 7 working days after date of conclusion of the agreement without having received any material will be entitled to a 50% refund within 30 days from date of cancellation.
- Orders cancelled within 7 working days after having received any books or course material on the condition that classes have not started yet will be entitled to a 50% refund/credit within 30 days from date of cancellation. As IBTC does not refund or exchange books and do not accept returned books, the books are not to be returned to IBTC.
- Orders cancelled after 7 working days after having attended the first class may be entitled to a 50% refund/credit within 30 days from date of cancellation, subject to the return of the course notes at the client's own cost.
- Orders cancelled after 7 working days after having attended the first class may be entitled to a 25% refund/credit within 30 days from date of cancellation should the client keep the course notes.
- Orders cancelled more than 7 working days after having received the course material and more than 7 days after having attended the first class will not be entitled to any refund/credit. As IBTC does not refund or exchange books and do not accept returned books, the books are not to be returned to IBTC.
- Should classroom courses not achieve their required minimum numbers, which will be determined at the sole discretion of IBTC, then Clients will receive a credit to use on another course of a similar nature, unless study material has been issued and used, in which instance you will be transferred to a Home Study course and be credited the difference between the classroom fee and the home study fee.
- Clients may defer classroom course or home study bookings (of a similar nature) at no extra cost for a period of up to 12 months provided that IBTC shall be informed of such deferment at least 1 week prior to the course start date. If material has already been despatched the Client will not receive any further material for the new semester to which they have deferred.
Cancellation Policy - Home Study/Distance Learning Products
- Orders cancelled within 7 working days after the date of comclusion of the agreement without having received any material will be entitled to a full refund within 30 days from date of cancellation, minus a cancellation fee.
- Orders cancelled within 7 working days of having received material will be entitled to a full/refund credit within 30 days of from date of cancellation, minus a cancellation fee.
- Orders cancelled more than 7 working days after having received the material will not be entitled to a refund/credit. As IBTC does not refund or exchange books and does not accept returned books, the books can not be returned to IBTC.
- Clients may defer classroom course or home study bookings (of a similar nature) at no extra cost for a period of up to 12 months provided that IBTC shall be informed of such deferment at least 4 weeks prior to the course start date. If material has already been despatched the Client will not receive any further material for the new semester to which they have deferred.
Cancellation Policy - CBA Exams
- Orders cancelled within 7 working days after date of conclusion of the agreement and at least 48hrs prior to the exam will be entitled to a full refund within 30 days from date of cancellation.
- Orders cancelled after 7 working days after date of conclusion of the agreement but prior to the exam will be entitled to a refund/credit of 50%.
- CBA exam no shows are entitled to any refunds.
- CBA exam date changes will be subject to a R250 rescheduling fee for the Client.
- Clients may defer CBA exams at no extra cost for a period of up to 12 months provided that IBTC shall be informed of such deferment at least 4 weeks prior to the exam date.
Payment Policy
- These amounts shall be exclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated.
- Payment for all classroom courses must be received in full at least 2 weeks ahead of the course start date in order to confirm a place on the course.
- Proof of full payment for all home study courses must be forwarded to IBTC (email or fax) before the student's study pack shall be delivered.
- Proof of payment for all CBAs must be forwarded (as above) following booking confirmation from IBTC staff and within 24 hours in order to secure the students exam booking.
- Payment should be made via electronic transfer to IBTC at the banking details provided on each invoice
Deliveries and Collections:
- Clients purchasing material (including postage) must indicate a physical delivery address at which address the material will be delivered. Clients who will be collecting material may do so from our registered offices. In this case IBTC staff will inform you when your study material is ready.
- Study material will be despatched once the last item is available for despatch. Early despatch of in-stock material will incur an additional courier/postage fee for the Client. In all instances, IBTC endeavours to provide you with the most up-to-date study material available. This may cause delays when IBTC is awaiting updated material to be received from suppliers. Please familiarise yourself with the study material availability prior to making payment.
Copyright and Limited License to Clients:
- All study material is printed under license from BPP Holdings Plc (Registration Number 1245304) ("BBP") and is protected by copyright laws ("Proprietary Works"). As such, all study material purchased from IBTC is for the Client's use only.
- All such Proprietary Works, and the compilation of the Proprietary Works, is protected by South African and international copyright laws. All rights in and to the Proprietary Works is reserved and retained by IBTC and BPP. Except as specified in these Terms and Conditions, a Client is not granted a license or any other right including without limitation under Copyright or other Intellectual Property Rights in or to the Proprietary Works.
- Subject to the further terms of these Terms and Conditions, a non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited and revocable right is granted to Clients, who ordered the Proprietary Work and made payment of the fee in terms of IBTC's payment policy, to use the Proprietary Work collected from or delivered by IBTC.
- The Proprietary Work may under no circumstances be reproduced, duplicated, copied, resold, visited or otherwise exploited by the Client.
- Any unauthorised use of the Proprietary Works will terminate this license with immediate effect.
