The ICB was established in 1931 with the aim of promoting bookkeeping qualifications and membership of an internationally recognised professional body. The ICB conducts professional assessments for those persons who intend following a career in bookkeeping and accounting. The ICB qualifications are offered through accredited training providers.
IBTC offers the following ICB's Certification Programmes via Home Study and Saturday classes:
- Junior Bookkeeper (NQF 3)
- Senior Bookkeeper (NQF 4)
- Technical Financial Accountant (NQF 5)
Members of the ICB who have paid annual subscriptions will be entitled to use the designations awarded by the ICB, for example TFAIcb(SA) - Technical Financial Accounting Institute of Certified Bookkeepers.
