Terms and Conditions

IBTC's Terms and Conditions are aligned to the Electronic Communication and Transaction Act 2002 ("the ECTA") and the Consumer Protection Act of 2008 ("the CPA").

Terms and Conditions

  • IBTC's Terms and Conditions are aligned to the Electronic Communication and Transaction Act 2002 ("the ECTA") and the Consumer Protection Act of 2008 ("the CPA").
  • The terms and conditions ("Terms and Conditions") will cover your use of the IBTC website located at the domain name www.ibtc.co.za ("the website"). By accessing and using the website and by making payment to IBTC in accordance with the payment instructions provided on your invoice you agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions.
  • IBTC reserves the rights to change, modify, add to or remove from portions or the whole of these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Changes to these Terms and Conditions will become effective upon such changes being posted to this website. It is your responsibility to periodically check these Terms and Conditions and should you continue to use the website following the posting of changes or updates your use will be considered notice of your acceptance to abide by and be bound to these Terms and Conditions including the changes/updates.

 

Limited Licence to General Users

  • IBTC grants you, subject to the further terms of these Terms and Conditions, a non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited and revocable right to access, display, use, download and otherwise copy the current and future content of this Website for personal, non-commercial and information purposes only. Any unauthorised use terminates this license. This Website and its content may not be reproduced, duplicated, copied, resold, visited or otherwise exploited for any commercial purpose without the express prior written consent of IBTC.

 

Privacy Policy

  • It is the policy of IBTC not to share, distribute or sell our Clients' particulars to any 3rd Party. IBTC will however use the Clients' details to inform and update the Client with any relevant information.
  • The IBTC website uses the following Google Analytics features based on Display Advertising: Remarketing, Google Display Network Impression Reporting, the DoubleClick Campaign Manager integration or Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting. Using the Ads Settings, visitors can opt out of Google Analytics for Display Advertising and customise Google Display Network ads. Please also refer to the Google Analytics' currently available opt outs for the web.
  • The IBTC website makes use of remarketing to advertise online. Third-party vendors, including Google, may show our ads on sites across the Internet.
  • The IBTC website and third-party vendors, including Google, use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) together to inform, optimise and serve ads based on past visits to the IBTC website.
  • The IBTC website and third-party vendors, including Google, use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) together to report how your ad impressions, other uses of ad services and interactions with these ad impressions and ad services are related to visits to your site.
  • It is the policy of IBTC not to share, distribute or sell our Clients' particulars to any 3rd Party data from Google's Interest-based advertising or 3rd-party audience data (such as age, gender and interests) with Google Analytics.

 

Complaints Policy

  • It is the policy of IBTC to always investigate to our best ability any complaint brought to our attention in writing. Please view our complaints procedure document here or you may email our Student Services Department at studentservices@ibtc.co.za 

 

Liability

  • The Client is personally responsible for all their belongings and equipment while at any of IBTC's premises. IBTC shall not be held responsible for any loss of or damage caused to any property belonging to the Client.
  • The Client shall have no claim against IBTC and the Client hereby indemnifies and holds IBTC free from liability in respect of any loss, damage or claims arising from death, injury or property damage sustained while on IBTC premises

 

Registration for courses, exams and placing of an order for study material or institute fees

  • If you wish to register for any of the courses facilitated by IBTC and/or to order any study material, institute fees or distance learning product you must complete the relevant online registration form and make payment of the prescribed fee in accordance with our payment policy set out hereafter. Upon registration and/or placing your order you will be considered a Client of IBTC and will at all times be subject to the Terms and Conditions set out herein.
  • IBTC is a certified Pearson VUE Assessment Centre (Cape Town and Sandton) and an ICB assessment venue (Sandton). Should the Client pay IBTC for any exam or assessment fees, the Client is solely responsible for registering themselves with the relevant exam centre and institute
  • It remains the Client responsibility to register for their ICB assessment with the institute. Should the Client request IBTC to register on their behalf, the request must be done in writing.
  • The Client remains solely responsible to ensure that they are registered on in time for the right subject at the right venue on the right date and that all assessment fees have been paid over to the institute.
  • Should the Client pay IBTC for registration or assessment ICB fees, it is the Client’s responsibility to register as a student or for the assessment with the ICB via the ICB’s Learner Portal and to provide IBTC with their reference number to enable IBTC to pay over the registration or assessment fee to the ICB.
  • CIMA Institute and Exam fees are fixed in Pounds Sterling. These are payable in South African Rand at the administrative exchange rate of IBTC and are subject to change without prior notice. These fees are paid directly to your MyCIMA account. Students may be liable for any difference in fees due to an increase in institute and/or exam fees made by CIMA. Please allow up to 10 working days for your CIMA fees to reflect in your MyCIMA account.
  • Should the Client pay IBTC for CIMA subscription, exemption, membership or examination fees, it is the Client’s responsibility to register as a student and/or for the specified examinations (CBA, OT or ICS) with CIMA and to provide IBTC with the correct, active CIMA Contact ID number to enable IBTC to pay over the fees to CIMA.
  • Should any CIMA fees be incorrectly allocated on a student’s MYCIMA the Client needs to correspond with CIMA UK directly to rectify the matter. Queries should be sent to data.management@cimaglobal.com.          
  • Should you wish to make any changes to your order post payment, you will need to request these changes in writing and email the request to studentservices@ibtc.co.za.
  • IBTC are only accepting CIMA Institute and Exam Fees for the year ending 31 December 2015.

 

Returns, Exchange and Refund Policy - Cooling Off Period

  • As per Section 44 of the ECTA, the consumer's right to a cooling off period does not apply to electronic transactions for the sale of books or CDs.
  • IBTC will replace any faulty books or CDs in exchange for the original, based on confirmation by the published material.

 

Online classes, USB’s and Pastel CD’s (ACCA, CFA, CIMA, CFA and ICB)

  • Please note that it is your responsibility to check that the electronic device you plan to use to access your Course Materials and the Online Course (and MyStudy, where applicable) is compatible with the minimum specification requirement that relates to the Online Course you are ordering. Please make sure you view the minimum specification for each BPP course.
  • You acknowledge and accept that the publisher cannot be held responsible for any technical problems you encounter following the purchase of an Online Course on your electronic device (e.g. PC, laptop, tablet etc.).
  • Please note that it is your responsibility to check that the electronic device you plan to use to access the USB (which is included with all ICB Home Study Plus material), as well as the Pastel software CD (which is included with the ICB Computerised Bookkeeping subject), has a USB drive as well as a CD-ROM drive. Note: The USB and Pastel software CD are only compatible with Windows computers, and do not work on Apple machines.
  • You acknowledge and accept that the publisher cannot be held responsible for any technical problems you encounter following the purchase of any ICB material.

 

Cancellation Policy – Evening Classes and Saturday Classes

  • The Client shall inform IBTC of any cancellation and deferments in writing.
  • Orders cancelled within 7 working days after date of conclusion of the agreement, without having received any material, will be entitled to a full refund, within 30 days from date of cancellation, less a 15% cancellation fee.
  • Orders cancelled within 7 working days after having received any books or course material, prior to the start of classes, will be entitled to a 75% refund/credit within 30 days from date of cancellation. IBTC does not award refunds on material or exchange any books and does not accept returned books.
  • Orders cancelled within 7 working days after classes have commenced (for the specified semester) may be entitled to a 50% refund/credit within 30 days from date of cancellation, subject to the return of the course notes at the Client's own cost to the IBTC Head Office in Cape Town.
  • Orders cancelled more than 7 working days after having received the course material and more than 7 days after classes have commenced (for the specified semester) will not be entitled to a refund/credit. IBTC does not award refunds on material or exchange any books and does not accept returned books.
  • The Client may defer a classroom course (or bookings of a similar nature) at no extra cost for a period of up to 6 months or one semester, provided that IBTC shall be informed of such deferment at least 2 weeks prior to the start of classes. If material has already been dispatched the Client will not receive any further material for the new semester to which they have deferred. Should updated material be available, the Client will be entitled to purchase the updated versions at their own additional cost.
  • Should the Client wish to defer their class less than 2 weeks prior or less than 7 days after the start of class, they will incur a 25% deferment fee. If material has already been dispatched the Client will not receive any further material for the new semester to which they have deferred. Should updated material be available, the Client will be entitled to purchase the updated versions at their own additional cost.
  • Should the Client not request a deferment prior to the start of class and if they do not attend any classes for the semester without informing IBTC of a possible deferment, they are not eligible for any refund or deferment of classes to another semester.
  • Should classroom courses not achieve their required minimum numbers, which will be determined at the sole discretion of IBTC, then the Client will be allowed to defer to another semester or to receive a credit for use on another course of a similar nature, unless study material has been issued, in which instance the Client will be transferred to a Home Study course and be credited/refunded the difference between the classroom fee and the home study fee.

 

 Cancellation Policy – OT Exam Prep Classes

  • The Client shall inform IBTC of any cancellation and deferments in writing.
  •  Orders cancelled within 7 working days after date of conclusion of the agreement, prior to start of classes, will be entitled to a full refund, within 30 days from date of cancellation, less a 15% cancellation fee.
  • Orders cancelled within 7 working days after classes have commenced (for the specified semester) may be entitled to a 50% refund/credit within 30 days from date of cancellation, subject to the return of the revision notes at the Client's own cost to the IBTC Head Office in Cape Town.
  • Orders cancelled more than 7 working days after classes have commenced (for the specified semester) will not be entitled to a refund/credit.
  • Clients may defer an exam prep course (or bookings of a similar nature) at no extra cost for a period of up to 6 months or one semester, provided that IBTC shall be informed of such deferment at least 2 weeks prior to the start of classes.
  • Should the Client wish to defer their class less than 7 days after the start of class, they will incur a 50% deferment fee.
  • Should the Client not request a deferment prior to the start of class and if they do not attend any classes for the semester without informing IBTC of a possible deferment, they are not eligible for any refund or deferment of classes to another semester.
  • Should the exam prep courses not achieve their required minimum numbers, which will be determined at the sole discretion of IBTC, then the Client will be allowed to defer to another semester or to receive a credit for use on another course of a similar nature.

 

Cancellation Policy - Revision Classes

  • The Client shall inform IBTC of any cancellation and deferments in writing.
  •  Orders cancelled within 7 working days after date of conclusion of the agreement, prior to start of classes, will be entitled to a full refund, within 30 days from date of cancellation, less a 15% cancellation fee.
  • Orders cancelled after classes have commenced (for the specified semester) will not be entitled to a refund/credit.
  • Clients may defer a revision course (or bookings of a similar nature) at no extra cost for a period of up to 6 months or one semester, provided that IBTC shall be informed of such deferment at least 2 weeks prior to the start of classes.
  • Should the Client not request a deferment prior to the start of class and if they do not attend any classes for the semester without informing IBTC of a possible deferment, they are not eligible for any refund or deferment of classes to another semester.
  • Should the revision course not achieve the required minimum numbers, which will be determined at the sole discretion of IBTC, then the Client will be allowed to defer to another semester or to receive a credit for use on another course of a similar nature.

 

Cancellation Policy – CS Exam Prep Classes

  • The Client shall inform IBTC of any cancellation and deferments in writing.
  • Orders cancelled within 7 working days after date of conclusion of the agreement, without having received any material, prior to the start of classes, will be entitled to a full refund, within 30 days from date of cancellation, less a 15% cancellation fee.
  • Orders cancelled within 7 working days after having received any books or course material, prior to the start of classes, will be entitled to a 75% refund/credit within 30 days from date of cancellation. IBTC will not award refunds on material or exchange any books and does not accept returned books.
  • Orders cancelled after classes have commenced (for the specified semester) will not be entitled to a refund/credit. IBTC does not award refunds on material or exchange any books and does not accept returned books.
  • Should the Client wish to defer the class, they may defer for a maximum of two consecutive ICS sittings, provided that IBTC shall be informed of such deferment at least 2 weeks prior to the start of classes. If material has not been dispatched the Client will incur no deferment fee. If material has already been dispatched the Client will incur a deferment fee of R2500.  This fee will need to be paid prior to the start of the new classes. The Client will then receive updated material for the class to which they have deferred.
  • Deferments requested less than 2 weeks prior to the start of class, after material has been received, will not be entitled to any refund/credit.
  • Should Clients not request a deferment within the 2 weeks prior and if they do not attend any classes for the course without informing IBTC of a possible deferment, they are not eligible for any refund or deferment of classes.
  • Should classroom courses not achieve their required minimum numbers, which will be determined at the sole discretion of IBTC, then Clients will receive a credit to use on another course of a similar nature, unless study material has been issued, in which instance the Client will be transferred to a Home Study course and be credited/refunded the difference between the classroom fee and the home study fee.

 

Cancellation Policy - Home Study and Distance Learning Products

  • The Client shall inform IBTC of any cancellation and deferments in writing.
  • Orders cancelled within 7 working days after the date of conclusion of the agreement or 2 weeks prior to the start of the online classes, without having received any material, will be entitled to a full refund within 30 days from date of cancellation, less a 15% cancellation fee.
  • Orders cancelled within 7 working days after having received material is entitled to a 50% refund/credit within 30 days of from date of cancellation.  IBTC does not award refunds on material or exchange any books and does not accept returned books.
  • Orders cancelled more than 7 working days after having received the material will not be entitled to any refund/credit. IBTC does not award refunds on material or exchange any books and does not accept returned books.
  • Clients may defer home study bookings (or bookings of a similar nature) at no extra cost for a period of up to 6 months or one semester, provided that IBTC shall be informed of such deferment within 7 working days after the date of conclusion of the agreement and without having received any material. If material has already been dispatched the Client will not receive any further material for the new semester to which they have deferred. Should updated material be available, the Client will be entitled to purchase the updated versions at their own additional cost.

 

 Cancellation Policy – Online Classes

  • The Client has 18 months from date of conclusion of agreement to make use of their booked study products. This includes distance learning, online learning and face-to-face classes. IBTC reserves the right to cancel selected products should the Client not make use within the 18 months.
  • The Client shall inform IBTC of any cancellation and deferments in writing.
  • Orders cancelled within 7 working days after the date of conclusion of the agreement, without having received any material, will be entitled to a full refund within 30 days from date of cancellation, providing the OCR course start date has not passed and the content has not been accessed.
  • Orders cancelled within 7 working days after having received the material, will be entitled to a 70% refund within 30 days from date of cancellation, providing the OCR course start date has not passed and the content has not been accessed. IBTC does not award refunds on material or exchange any books and does not accept returned books.
  • Orders cancelled more than 7 working days after having received the material will not be entitled to any refund/credit. IBTC does not award refunds on material or exchange any books and does not accept returned books.
  • Clients may defer online courses (or bookings of a similar nature) at no extra cost for a period of up to 6 months or one semester, provided that IBTC shall be informed of such deferment within 7 working days after the date of conclusion of the agreement and without having received any material, providing the OCR course start date has not passed and the content has not been accessed.  If material has already been dispatched the Client will not receive any further material for the new semester to which they have deferred. Should updated material be available, the Client will be entitled to purchase the update versions at their own additional cost.

 

Cancellation Policy – Computer Based Examinations for ACCA

  • The Client shall inform IBTC of any cancellation and deferments in writing.
  •  Orders for Computer Based Examination (CBEs) cancelled within 7 working days after date of conclusion of the agreement and at least 2 working days prior to the exam, will be entitled to a full refund within 30 days from date of cancellation, less a R350 cancellation fee. Orders cancelled within 2 working days prior to the exam will not be eligible for any refund/credit. 
  • Orders cancelled with no original CBE date will be entitled to a full refund/credit within 30 days from date of cancellation, less a R350 cancellation fee.
  • CBE exam no shows are not eligible for any refunds/credits and will forfeit the full cost of the CBE booking.
  • Clients who have not selected a date when booking have a maximum of 18 months in which to write their chosen CBE, from the date of conclusion of the agreement.
  • Should the ACCA Exam Fee of the CBE increase in the interim between booking the CBE and choosing an exam date, the Client will be liable to pay the difference prior to the exam being written.
  • Clients wishing to defer their CBE date at least 4 weeks prior to the exam, may do so at no additional cost.  Clients may postpone their CBE exam for up to 12 months from the date of conclusion of the agreement.
  • Clients wishing to defer their CBE date with less than 4 weeks to go until the exam date may do so but will incur a rescheduling fee of R350, which is to be paid in full to confirm the new exam date.

 

Passed Assured Policy – Evening Classes and Saturday Classes

  • The required criteria for Pass Assurance is that the Client achieves 90% attendance, writes both progress tests and achieves 40% on their mock exam. If the Client does not pass their ensuing CIMA exam, the Client may then come back to IBTC’s exam prep classes for that subject in the following semester, for free.
  • If the Client wishes to apply for Pass Assurance they need to email studentservices@ibtc.co.za with their request.

 

Pass Assured Policy – Case Study Exam Prep Classes

  • The required criteria for Pass Assurance is that the Client achieves 100% attendance and completes and submits all relevant mock exams for the course. If the Client does not pass their ensuing CIMA exam, the Client may then come back to IBTC for CS exam prep classes in the following sitting. The Client will be liable for a charge of R2000 for the new material that is required for each exam sitting.
  • If the Client wishes to apply for Pass Assurance they need to email studentservices@ibtc.co.za with their request.

 

Pass Rate Policy 

  • IBTC obtains pass rate information on all IBTC Clients from the Institutes in order to monitor pass rate performance. Should a Client not wish for this data to be obtained, the Client should email 

 

Payment Policy

  • The Client shall inform IBTC of any amendments to payment plan in writing. Any changes to banking details needs to be completed on a new debit order form.
  • All amounts shall be inclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated, with the exception of institute fees which will be shown exclusive of VAT.
  • Proof of payment for all class bookings must be received in full at least 2 weeks ahead of the course start date in order to confirm a place on the course.
  • Should payment be made via electronic transfer, it should be paid directly to IBTC at the banking details provided on each invoice with the booking number as a payment reference.
  • Any changes regards to your payment plan needs to be done 7 days prior to the actual collection date.
  • Any credit held by IBTC will be valid for a period of 12 months from the date of notification to the Client.
  • Any payment plan and debit order agreement will be run until the relevant invoice is paid in full regardless of the set schedule, this is to account for any rejections or non-payments. You will ensure that sufficient funds will be available in your nominated bank account.
  • IBTC may request any additional information to complete your debit order form.

 

Deliveries and Collections from our registered offices in Cape Town

  • Clients purchasing material must indicate a physical delivery address (where someone will be available to sign for the package anytime between 9am and 5pm) at which address the material will be delivered. Clients who will be collecting material may do so from our registered offices. In this case IBTC staff will inform you when your study material is ready for collection.
  • Study material will be despatched once the last item is available for despatch. Early despatch of in-stock material will occur at the sole discretion of IBTC. In all instances, IBTC endeavours to provide you with the most up-to-date study material available as soon as possible. This may cause delays when IBTC is awaiting updated material to be received from suppliers. Please familiarise yourself with the study material availability prior to making payment.
  • IBTC’s free shipping policy is only available within South Africa. 
  • IBTC’s free shipping policy is only available on original orders and does not apply to any amendments to orders once the initial material has been dispatched. Should the amendment allow for subjects to be swapped, the Client will be responsible for delivering the material to the IBTC Head Office in Cape Town and the Client will incur an additional postage fee will need to be paid in full by the Client, prior to the additional material being dispatched from the Head Office.
  • Should you request delivery of material to a country outside South Africa, you will receive an additional invoice for international shipping once your booking has been confirmed. Please be aware that Clients may be subject to import fees when collecting their material from customs in the country of delivery. 

 

Copyright and Limited Licence to Clients

  • All study material is printed under license from BPP Holdings Plc (Registration Number 1245304) ("BPP") and is protected by copyright laws ("Proprietary Works"). As such, all study material purchased from IBTC is for the Client's use only.
  • All such Proprietary Works, and the compilation of the Proprietary Works, is protected by South African and international copyright laws. All rights in and to the Proprietary Works is reserved and retained by IBTC and BPP. Except as specified in these Terms and Conditions, a Client is not granted a license or any other right including without limitation under Copyright or other Intellectual Property Rights in or to the Proprietary Works.
  • Subject to the further terms of these Terms and Conditions, a non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited and revocable right is granted to Clients, who ordered the Proprietary Work and made payment of the fee in terms of IBTC's payment policy, to use the Proprietary Work collected from or delivered by IBTC.
  • The Proprietary Work may under no circumstances be reproduced, duplicated, copied, resold, visited or otherwise exploited by the Client.
  • Any unauthorised use of the Proprietary Works will terminate this license with immediate effect.
